From Mars and Venus

A Film by Kevin Kok

Synopsis

VAN MARS EN VENUS.
Gijs (17) sails together with his father, as an internship, from the Netherlands to Wallonia. It was a long time ago that father and son were dependent on each other. On the deck, their communication flows naturally, but words are not as easily found in their personal conversations. Sometimes Gijs feels the need to dress as a woman in other words he is a crossdresser. He hides this part of himself, as he is afraid of what others might think.

Kevin (Theodoor) Kok was born on the 12th of March 1994 in Zevenaar, The Netherlands. In 2017 he graduated from the University of Arts in Utrecht as a director and writer.
He aspires to create films that contribute to the social debate on current issues such as gender, sexuality and racism. He is always searching for a story that is usually underexposed or for a new perspective.
The movies he prefers are personal, intimate stories, zoomed in on one character dealing with inner conflicts.
