Livre D’Heures

A Film by Suzan Noesen

Synopsis

BOOK OF HOURS.
Livre d’heures portrays the day-to-day cohabitation of the artist Suzan and her grandmother Bomi in a village. The film is based on their real-life interaction. The film’s aesthetics serve as a metaphor to depict their different identities and lifestyles, based on the evolution of the status of women and the difference between artist and farmer’s wifes’ work. The film is divided into four chapters (Patterns, The Virgin Hours, The Divine Office of Time, The Penitential Psalms). Each chapter approaches the structuring of life from a different angle with its own narrative style. Livre d’heures tells a story about intergenerational difference, identity and the interdependence of two women as well as their individual dependence on time.
