The Romantic Movement

A Film by Yuhe Lu

Synopsis

Obsessed with his recent breakup, a young writer decides to commit suicide by midnight if his ex-lover doesn’t return to him. Desperately waiting in his gloomy house yet intruded by his annoyingly zealous friend who keeps trying to cheer him up, the writer drifts into fragmented memories of his past with her: a beach where two little girls were playing by a writing desk, a room cloaked by dreamy orange lights, a book he’s been secretly writing for a long time… At the end of these reminiscences awaits an unbearable realization, which shatters the writer’s beliefs in himself worse than unrequited love does.
