Synopsis

Twelve-year-old Adeline Tang struggles to navigate America’s adult playground and keep her mother’s gambling under control, all for the promise of that perfect family Christmas holiday once her father arrives. But as the days unfold, Adeline realizes that growing up might not hold all the excitement she’d been hoping for.

    Tiffanie is a writer and director recently selected as an HBO Visionary for her short film, WONDERLAND (2017), a coming-of-age story about a Chinese-American girl struggling to reconcile family and fantasy in America’s adult playground: Las Vegas. The film stars Joan Chen (LUST CAUTION, TWIN PEAKS), debuts her daughter, Audrey Hui, and is available on HBO platforms through 2018. In 2017, Tiffanie directed a feature documentary for the Swarovski Foundation. WATERSCHOOL (2018) follows six girls living along the Amazon, Mississippi, Nile, Danube, Ganges, and Yangtze rivers on journeys of empowerment as they use education around water and sustainability to protect their communities and homes. WATERSCHOOL recently premiered at Sundance 2018. She will be a shadowing director on the upcoming season of TRANSPARENT, and is developing a feature adaptation of WONDERLAND.
    Hsu has a BA from Harvard University and an MFA in Directing from the University of California, Los Angeles. She grew up in Wisconsin, Taiwan, and Southern California and began her career as a director’s assistant for international popstar Leehom Wang on his directorial debut LOVE IN DISGUISE (2010) and then for Ang Lee on LIFE OF PI (2012).
